Past Contest Participants and Friends:

I'm writing to announce a very special Clarity of Night Contest short fiction contest beginning July 8th! Jaye Wells, the debut author of the cool and successful novel RED-HEADED STEPCHILD, is joining me as co-host! The contest is in her honor.

Compete for a signed copy of RED-HEADED STEPHCHILD. Compete for eternal bragging rights. Compete for cold, hard cash!! (Well, Amazon gift certificates...as good as cash.) $170 dollars in prizes will be awarded.

The contest will open on Wednesday, July 8th and will be open for one week. As with past contests, the limit is 250 words. Any genre or form is welcome so long as it is inspired by the "In Vino Veritas (Truth in Wine)" photo. Rules have been posted here:

Monday Delight - A WL Interview Series

To WL Family!

Its a great pride for all of us to know each other by different aspects. After long time of break we are here with an announcement of an interview coming this Monday i.e 22 June 2009. Though it was announced previously that Insiya aka illusiOn~ will be interviewed but due to some unavoidable reasons we are unable to do so, but for sure its scheduled. Shweta aka I, Me and Myself is selected as out next guest for Monday Delight. For those who are still unaware of Shweta aka I, Me and Myself can go through her writing's by clicking I, Me and Myself in labels or by clicking her personal blog Hope-A Life

Monday Delight - A WL Interview Series

To WL Family,

It is matter of great pride that The Writer's Lounge is growing at a frantic pace and the creativity is flowing flawlessly. The way, family members are getting along and motivating each other is surely adding more shimmer to this space. To add to this, WL is announcing an interview series, where a lounge member will be interviewed every monday. This could be any one of you. The number of questions will be 25, to which honest answers are sought. A time span will the be given to the interviewee and the questions have to be within that time span. All the members are expected to add the WL admin id to their gtalk (writers.in.lounge@gmail.com).

We are sure it will be great fun knowing more about each other.

Weekends@Lounge

To WL Family,

I am writing this post on behalf of S.a.S after going through your comments and suggestions for the announcement made today. We really appreciate your comments and views. I hope you understand that this is just for the betterment of our lounge. It's giving "us" more importance than "me".

Let me clarify a few things first. We want to read everyone out here and at the same time know each other better. In the mayhem, we are not getting to know a lot of people out here. Some get lost in the heap of posts and we have no choice but skip them coz of the paucity of time. This will help us go nowhere and we need to use this little space of ours to the maximum. A little sanity and attention to the fact that we dont copy and paste everything from our blog will help this blog go a long way. Let's use this space for experimenting, for trying out new stuff, for knowing each other better and making this space the most sought after. You are free to post the stuff you experiment out here on your personal blogs. We have no right to and dont intend to stop you from doing so as well friends.

Still, considering the fact that people dont always prefer to go out of the lounge and visit other blogs, we declare the lounge open on weekends for your personal blog posts. So every weekend you could share with other lounge members what you feel is the top post/s from your blog to showcase in front of others here. This will ensure that people here dont miss your best stuff that you posted on your blog and want the lounge members to read as well. It would be great if we could consciously try not to clutter the lounge with too many posts from your blog on weekends....And weekdays can be reserved for experimentations, themes and other stuff which will help us learn new stuff. We also would encourage a post wherein you could tell us about yourself in the comments section, helping all of us know you better.

The Writers lounge rocks..n u guys make it rock!!

To the WL family - Important Announcement.

To the WL family,



We call this our second home. It has always been a place to unwind for us. We have grown at a frantic pace and have more than 80 members on board with us. Since some have been with us since the first day, and some are new to the gang this is a right opportunity to tell you all about our lounge and things it stands for. It was started off by Sandeep, Stephen and Asbah on 16th July, 2008. This date will be forever etched in our memories because it was this day that the three of us had dreamt about a place which would be our extended family. A lounge where people would experiment and think beyond the obvious. A place where people would be willing to take up challenges at the drop of a hat. A place where people can explore new genres they would never have dared to. A place where the whole WL family could conspire and crack jokes, pull legs, have fun and form bonds that transcend all boundaries. We had started off with our very first contest, which saw only Sandeep and Asbah participate. No one had commented on the stories back then. Best in the Lounge Story contest - August 2008

From that time to this day when we got more than 30 entries twice, it has been a fruitful journey. This is a time when we are bubbling with enthusiasm and any contest announced is a big hit, we feel overwhelmed to have started off this blog back then. This blog is what it is today because of you all. And to ensure that it is not typecast into just another group blog and to see to it that it stands apart, we would want your help. We want to make it an aspiration brand among all bloggers. We want people to take notice of the immense talent we have on board. We three were very clear right from the first day that this lounge of ours should not become a “Re-post” option for whomsoever joins it. “Re-posting” would mean writing something for your blog and then copy pasting the same here. If everyone here does the same, things would get really insane. We want you all to write exclusively for the lounge. We want you all to experiment out here. We would facilitate you with themes for the month and you could let your imagination loose and challenge yourself. Please refrain from using this place as a re-posting option. Write something exclusive for your family members and add a line or two at the end with your blog update and your blog link so that people could visit them. Infact every post should contain the personal blog link of the author at the end making it easier for people who liked their work to read more. If we continue to use the lounge to just re-post the same stuff we post on our personal blog, the lounge will become a big mess and things will become unmanageable.



We would want your suggestions as to how best we could ensure that members use the lounge for exclusive works. It can be our own series like the two point someone, adventures of stepman etc. Contests and monthly themes are another way. A relay story series wherein whosoever is passed the next part will have to pen it down and do the same. We have our in-house movie critic as well on board. This is the right time to mould our group blog into something unique and not typecast it like any other group blog. Need more suggestions from you all. We have big plans for our lounge. We are nothing without your support. Writers Lounge Rocks…and you all make it rock! Cheers!

Final Announcement... Inspiration Poetry Contest.

Hey folks, 

Another day, and another successful contest will be at a closure. This announcement is for informing you all, that the Inspiration Poetry Contest will end tomorrow, the 4th of February at 8PM IST. As of this moment, we have had 21 entries for the contest, with quite a few more to come I believe. It has been a very inspired couple of weeks, and we thank you all for your support.

Those who are yet to mail us the entries, please do so before the afore mentioned date and time. Inspirational poems are welcome to be posted at the lounge after that also, but only entries mailed before then will be considered for the contest.

My Grandma and HP

Most of us have been admiring models who show up in various ads in various media. Have you ever thought of modeling yourself? Well, if you have not done this and aspire to do so, let me tell you that its not too late. As they say, “Its never too far, from where you are!” Trust me with this.

One of my colleague and friend has found a hidden talent of modeling in his grandmother. She may not be a very famous model, but she is of same caliber, never the less. See this video here for yourself and decide. I just fell at her feet after seeing this – she is beautiful, cute and gorgeous and on top of it she is very talented.
