I believe in Anna but I am not Anna !

    The thirteen day long fast of Kisan Baburao Hazare aka Anna Hazare has been a much debated lately on news channels, in news papers, in youth clubs and in every commoner drawing room. The fast was for Jan Lokpal Bill to be taken into consideration by Indian Government.

Okay now coming to the central point of this post. I believe in Anna but I am not Anna. I belive in his ideologies and principles. I  believe we Indians are solely responsible for all the corruption we are facing today. The corrupt bureaucrats have risen amongst us. The common man is responsible for proviking the much hated act of bribe. But this was done when we reached a threshold where we had no other choice but to bribe and be bribed.

Anna brought the whole nation under one notion, Remove Corruption. But I don't agree with his fast way to make Government agree to his demands. Okay I am not too much into politics but at-least I know what's going on in there. What was the need for him to fast for 13 long days? He's 74 years old and his life could have been in danger if the fast would have been on for several more days. There are other ways of protesting. Mob can gather peacefully outside minister's houses, they can put RTI to it's best use asking whereabouts's of development money, Candle lit marches could have been organized nation wide, a healthy debate could have been established between the People and the Government. But fasting! I don't see any Gandhian fellowship in that.

I might be wrong in my perception but it was really painful to see an old man sitting and fasting for us all .

Anna ji, we need people like you to remind Indians that they are born in a country that gave birth to people like रजा हरीश चन्द, शहीद भगत सिंह, नेताजी सुभाष चन्द्र बोस, महात्मा गाँधी and you !

ELECTIONS RESULT!!!! AND MANY MORE

My party lost. NDA lost.BJP lost and moreover Advani lost. Guys ,I'm shattered,I'm tarnished.How could the results go against BJP.We were allset to establish a democratic front and a decisive goverment.A total spoilsport of everything.The superhero has spent several sleepless night for this day to get the biggest shock of his life.I remember dancing on street as a 7 year old kid on Mumbai streets when 1998 Loksabha poll results were announced.I was seeing Vachpayee as our spinal cord of our system all though he couldnt do much.God!Is this the end of BJP.Will we ever form a goverment atleast after next 20 years which would be the era of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi as the backbone of our nation.A stupendous display and a great result by the congress.I had 10 kg of Barfi's with me and desperately I was standing outside the BJP headquarters outside Delhi with crackers and everything.So that once the results would be announced I would directly go to temple and pray for our next goverment.It has not been a single day where I didn't go to Siddhivinayak Temple and pray for Advani ji and BJP. Was there any flaw in our election campaign or did congress outplayed us.We are shattered.Don't worry guys BJP would probably come into power for sure and StepMAN will be your leader.

Any way congrats Mrs Sonia ji,Dr.Manmohan and Mr.Rahul ji

DISGUSTING!!

every year 100 new news channels are launched! all of them gets the TRP! talks shows, Interviews of leaders , media coverage of scamps, attacks, everything is being watched!
and then when VOTE DAY comes... U see figures as 29% In up, 30% in Bihar and 14% in J&K, ...
not just this... Our very respected capital delhi had 33% till the last time I saw television!

Everyone has an opinion but no one wants to vote!
god damn it! step inside the booth! U will see 15 odd names... do u know each of them? vote for strangers! vote against those whom u hate! give someone a chance! have a voice atleast please! u think u are making a statement and message sitting at home and saying "all the cheaters, whom to vote for blah blah...", then who the hell are you! Bihar And Up people turning out to vote 30% is a real shame! millions of rupees spend in campaighn and hours of media time and coverage and air space on radio occupied... just to get some asses move to the booth! god damn! cancel the holiday! these people dont deserve this day to rest!

NOTHING F**K can change! All are cheaters! thanks for happily accepting this cheating!

I think more number of voters come out to vote in panchayat elections of villages, then why give all those roads, malls, and facilities to delhi and other big cities when they cant even vote! what's the diffrence!

India needs leaders and no dealers.....

I hate politics,I hate politicians,I hate writing about them,I hated
studying about civics & economics.I know it's important to know it all if
you're a part of democracy like India,but I don't understand a word I read about politics.

So this is my first post about POLITICS,and perhaps the last too[Till the next election :)]

30/04/2009----

It was the election date.Most of the people were bent upon awakening the other to vote and the businessmen were busy persuading everyone to vote by huge discount offers on showing the famous black spot - the proof that they had voted. Even the radio jockeys at various radio stations were doing the same job.

As far as I was concerned,it was not like a "normal" holiday-a sunday.It was the festical of politics,where I had to do something so important and that too for the first time in my life.---- VOTE!! .... and then show off that black dot proudly to everyone around.

I had not received my election card,but my dad assured me that I would be allowed to vote on showing my identity & residence proof.I was not very keen on voting,but those vote campaigns had awakened the enthusiastic voter in me !! :D

A friend told me that the candidates bribed certain class of people to vote for them and the money[Read : bribe/black money] those people earned was lakhs of rupees.

I was shocked.I was feeling so helpless.I was far too innocent to imagine such things were actually happening.I thought if these people applied a bit of their business mind to constructive activities,for the welfare of the people;the future of India would be so much better than expected. But these corrupt people,who keep running after money all the time;the unethical politicians;the immoral citizens-----all these things and lot more has weakened India.I feel so sorry that I don't have enough authority & courage to fight against all this.

How I wish I could undertake a sting operation,catch the politicians red-handed when they're bribing people and those sick DISGUSTING citizens of INDIA who actually accept the bribe and happily enjoy partying with that dishonest earning.

Horrible,isn't it?

It hurts me more than anything ever.To be honest,I'm not the "perfect patriot" kind of a girl,but I'm surely concerned for my country & its future.It's my moral responsibility for the sake of humanity-not only for India but for any DEMOCRATIC country as a bonafide citizen of that particular country.

Anyways,all these are mere talks and talks don't help.I know I cannot reveal the names of people involved in all this,but I surely wish I can do something.

I wish I can catch each one of them,get them arrested and drag them to the court. I know it very well that even if I reveal those names,people will question me regarding evidences,which I'm not going to have.

Anyways forget it.Talk & forget-Thats all I can do.I'm such an ordinary citizen-another common man who cannot do anything inspite of being the witness to all the injustice and a victim of corruption.[Courtesy: movie -Wednesday].I don't have any other option.I cannot call the police and tell them 'cause you never know even they might be involved[Sorry - to all the genuine policemen out there,if at all anyone is reading].

Okay,now coming back to my first vote....

The centre was not at all crowded.The people posted with the job of handling the voting procedures were literally sitting idle,whiling away time,cracking jokes,laughing at the silliest jokes and gossiping.

Tch-Tch!!

What a situation!!

They were cracking jokes on the blue ink which turned black[which was used for applying the black spot.]--- "This can be used as a dye to colour the hair black". Thats what I heard.

Huh!!I guess this was the poorest joke I have heard in my life,but I completely sympathize with them.

That was the scene at the polling centres.

Scene at home :-

Everyone was busy watching poll news about the poll percentage and few glimpses of IPL.

I swear,I'm so not interested in cricket.IPL makes me sick! and on the top of it all,IPL is the "current event" thing.Status messages on all social networking sites,applications on all social networking sites,blogs,newspapers,tv channels,college conversations,bets,celebrity crushes,messenger chats,messenger status messages--------EVERY second thing is about IPL-Mumbai something,Delhi something....God knows what are those names.

Anyways coming back to elections...

The news channels had got a new topic apart from IPL.

"Aaj Mumbai ne kiya niraash....."

"Only 46.63% people voted at Mumbai......."

Then,the celebritiessssssss-----

"John Abraham,Sonam Kapoor,Amrita Rao,Abhishek Bacchan,Aishwarya Bacchan,Jaya Bacchan,Amitabh Bacchan etc etc etc....WENT TO VOTE".

This was the breaking news.

And then The top 10 celebrities who did not vote---

5 in actors,5 in actresses :-

Ajay Devgan,Saif Ali Khan,Akshay Kumar,Salman Khan,Deepika Padukone,Priyanka Chopra,Kareena Kapoor etc. etc. --I don't remember the names.Please excuse me.--These people did not vote.Inspite of being a part of the inspiring advertisement to make people vote,these stupid celebrities did not vote.
It was so damn irritating.News channels are sooooooo irritating.....
Moreover,In Mumbai they applied that black spot on the middle finger,so in case they have to show the proof that they had voted,they would have to show all the fingers together...Poor Mumbai!! :P

Phew...enough of all this.I shall post more after 5 years!! :P

P.S. :- We give them vote.What do they give us? I'm thankful to this line and the autorickshaw wala who had got this line painted on his autorickshaw.

Elections!!! Watch out....

There are some questions in my mind who are troubling me ever since i read Uzra's poem under voice against terrorism...

Why suddenly the inflation is under control and the finance minister talks about having negative inflation rates??
How long will this continue??? till the elections end???

Why suddenly the bulls running again and the bears have gone for hibernation at the BSE and NSE..??? how long will the hibernation last?? till the election??

Why do all the parties advertise about their achievements only during election time?
Most of them on private channels..Doordarshan has less numbers comapred to other channels??

What has happened to the terror strikes?? Is the security and intelligence network working over time or may be politicians have signed a confidential and secret ceasefire with them.
Of course it will cease to exist once the election ends??( i hope this is nt true)

Why have suddenly SOME of the marathi's( i dont offend every one of them) stopped hating the bhaiya's and bihari's?

Why all of the ministers from Tamil nadu so interested in bringing a ceasefire in Sri-Lanka..Is every Tamil in the state of tamil nadu Happy that u r so concerned abt tamils in other countries?

Why all the politicians are silent about their alliances....Why do they want the elections to get over...Are they afraid that they ll lose people's confidence if they openly speak abt the alliance they want to join.

Why no channel shows what Amar singh did for Hilary clinton?

What has happened to all the celebrities in mumbai? Where's their chants of "enough is enough"
are they waiting for another incident to happen?


Is there really a provision in our constitution that we have been haering abt.Some section that describes that we have the right to vote for no one.But we have to go to the poll booth and tell the officer. If there's a provision...How can be trust that election officer.Coz there's no such option in the voting machine.

How's our vote secret then.? if its not secret, then how can it be powerful???

Lets hope that the power should come to someone or group of poeple who are less corrupt and more concerned abt this nation.

Quota System: Sanction of the Unreserved??

This is in continuation of the post I made on 'Saction of the Victim'. Regular readers might be aware of the fact that I quoted a section of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugs".

The quota system as implemented in India today is one such example when the good and the knowledgeable acquiesce whatever is shoved down their throat.

The purpose of India's reservation system was alleviation of the people of the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes. There was a consensus that there were tribes of people that were oppressed under the infamous 'caste system' of India at the time of India's independence that was present in the Hindu society. As a result, the constitution of India granted 15% and 7.5% vacancies in educational institutions and jobs in the public sector. This was meant only for 5 years and the end of that period, the situation was to be reviewed. Not only have the succeeding governments extended this period, they have also failed to review the situation and have also extended the vacancies for other sections of the society.

So does this mean that the vacancies were not applied adequately? Or did the number of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes increased all of a sudden after independence when instead they should have fallen. Thankfully, the SC had imposed a limit on the quota sytem to 50% and so, it has generally not risen beyond that limit. But why was the limit imposed at 50% and why was it not kept at the initial 15% and 7.5% as mentioned above? Moreover the system has also passed into the private sector. Why is this so?

Without going into the details of the quota debate, some quick points that have to be made regarding the systems are as follows:

1. Implementation of the quota system would perpetuate the caste system instead of abolishing it.
2. Political vote bank imperatives will lead to the extention of the quota system to other sections of the society.
3. Scams will float to register an upper caste as a lower caste. This is already happening in my caste.
   
4. Would other religions also not ask for a reservation for its own poor and backward castes?

The last point of the above has already bore fruit as Syed Shahbuddin has made a demand of muslim reservations. Where will the buck stop?

Instead we the people of India should propose:

1. That people be evaluated on the basis of their talent and potential for the post they aspire to and not on the basis of their birth.
2. If at all the government wants to support the poor, they should support them with economic incentives, scholarships, etc. instead of affirmative action.
3. If there are any reasons that this cannot be implemented (such as corruption, red tape, etc), we should attack those problems and not shy away from them and implement coward measures as these, since some of these have become general Indian problems.

The justice that is deserved by the people who toil hard irrespective of the status that has been conferred upon him by birth will not be imparted if the quota system sidesteps poverty and considers birth issues as important in decision making. Today's India lags behind many other countries in terms of science and technology. Besides, there would surely be many other fields which we will lag behind because of slacking in standards of quality. Who knows how many Charakas, Sushrutas, Aryabhattas, Bhaskaracharyas, Kalidases, Ramanujans, C.V. Ramans, Har Gobind Khoranas, Dhyan Chands, Pullela Gopichands, Vishwanathan Anands etc. we missed because of this system?

Once again we find that words written by Ayn Rand forty two years ago ring true. Time to uproot this system that is allowing the caste system to thrive and unite as one people, avoiding greedy government officials to pander to vote bank interests and minorityism. It is time we as concerned citizens of India raise this issue again in this year's election campaign and refuse to give sanction to our politicians as hapless victims.
