Of Me and Pigeons!

Pigeons… [Sigh]…

Wikipedia says, “Pigeons are stout-bodied birds with short necks and short slender bills with a fleshy cere. The species commonly referred to just as the "pigeon" is the feral Rock Pigeon, common in many cities”. Well, these are the ones that have made my life miserable! Most of you who read any of my tags must be wondering, why do I always mention Pigeons in anything that I post about myself? Especially when I talk about hatred or fear. Well here are the answers to all the questions and wonderings:

Pigeons for me are like… The most irritating living organisms. They are so ugly, actually forget about ugly, that is the way that God made them, besides that is individual preference. But they are so dumb! I have seen them going round and round… Rotating around themselves for a whole day continuously! And to top it all off, they are super duper pricey! I mean, they just fly into our house [without permission. But it is ok because they are dumb] and they just sit anywhere, they fly here and there without caring about running fans on the ceilings. And when you try to hit them or throw hot water near them to shoo them away, they come back again! They are so stupid, they just flap their wings in that irritating fashion and I just cannot take that noise. Oh how can I forget their Ghutar Ghutar… The worst sound in this world. And I am not scared of admitting that I suffer from Liviaphobia [That is what I found when I googled fear of Rock Pigeons].

Why I hate them so much? Well there are a few incidents. The first one was when I was 8 years old, but I still remember it all so vividly, because it is one of those incidents which haunt you for the rest of your life. Well so I was playing downstairs with all the other kids, and back then we did not have a playground so we used to play “Pakda Pakdi” around the building. And I was being chased, so I was running full speed, I remember I had a good lead too… And I turned around for one second to see how far the boy who had been chasing me was, and right at that moment my leg fell into this small bucket which was lying in my way. Instantly I felt something biting my leg, and when I looked down it was a Pigeon! And it was flapping its wings rapidly and biting the hell out of me. Oh my God, I was so scared… I still remember. The watchman had to come and save me! I cried so much! L

The second incident was once when I was napping in the afternoon time at my place, and I had the best dream. I was 12 years old that time, and I used to watch a lot of WWE. My hard crush was The Rock [Dwayne Johnson] and I was dreaming about him! In the dream I was witnessing his match with Triple H for the WWE title [It was WWF back then] and The Rock won hands down. Then he asked me out on a date and took me to a seashore in his arms. There was a table where we were to have dinner. So we sat facing each other and gazed into each others eyes, and then suddenly he picked up a knife and started stabbing into my palm really rapidly! I was crying for help and I woke up from my dream just to find out an ugly Pigeon dancing on my palm. I was so irritated! I had screamed my lungs out that time!

Since then, I am petrified of Pigeons! They have such an adverse effect on my life… I cannot sleep till late in the morning, because in my house especially in New Delhi we don’t have grills, and my Boyfriend refuses to have any! And at about 8 30 AM every single day they just fly into the house and invade the whole room! Not to forget their loud Ghutar Ghutar which echoes in the whole house. Even if I sleep at say 5 AM, I have a recurrent alarm tuned everyday for 8 AM when I wake up and close the windows. I have forgotten how it is like to stand at the window, because even if a Pigeon flies at a distance of say 1 meter, I start screaming and yelling like a woman who has been possessed by some Aatma! And it is all so uncalled for, I have scared all the people around by this behavior and I have almost stopped socializing because of this! My boyfriend is so unhappy living with me because I don’t let him sleep either! What is more, I have been named “The girl who is scared of Pigeons.”

I hope someday I am able to conquer this fear of mine because I think it is extremely shameful for a girl whose profession itself is based in the sky. I am not scared of anything else! Be it Lizards, Cockroaches, Crows [I Love them!] or even Vultures, Seagulls or Eagles. It is just these Pigeons! But, at the end of the day they are nature’s creation too, so I have to respect them. But one day…. “Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad…!!”

Transformation - From my Blog

You, you standing right there,

Yes, you wearing the Dark Black dress

And your face covered by long locks and short bangs;

What are you hiding, your eyes with that smudged black Kohl

Smeared all across your white as light face

You look so tall and healthy but I can sense the shiver

Running through your spine, as you kneel down helplessly

And cry and scream and wonder what went wrong

Just when you thought you had me all figured out,

I looked pretty simple and straight isn't it?

I saw you suffer from the time you had senses,

I saw you in hurt and despair,

I saw you worry, I saw you hurry

I saw enough, It was time to smile now my dearest.

For I saw you try, cry, attempting to die,

I saw you losing, losing your belief in me.

You thought you had me figured out then,

I was being ruthless, merciless, making you feel helpless,

Is all what you could think of

But I was just watching, watching your show.

Just when you thought of ending it all,

I started a new beginning,

You reluctantly embraced my shoulder for crying

You cried lakes and rivers and oceans, But

I knew I had to make you smile, shower you with care and concern,

Make you believe in me, make you better.

You did believe, but you went too far,

You thought I was your puppet

You thought you knew the in and out. You thought I was a plan.

It was time now for a reality check.

I am not your friend, I am not your lover,

Nor am I your near or dear one.

But I am there everywhere, whether you need me or not.

For one thing, you can never figure me out.

Taking for granted and being over confident,

Is not what I want of you,

I say this coz you, yes you my dearest, are my puppet.

And I, am a puzzle, waiting to be put together.

There are a million ways, but you need know which one is best,

As I watch you, hit you, shine on you, as your deeds be.

You struggled, you tried,

You got hurt, you cried,

You acquired me, you smiled,

Do you still not know I am a part of you?

I am as a matter of fact you.

And you thought you knew yourself all along,

Isn't this a shock?

But as I hide in your bosom this time,

Don't let go, I won't grant you a quarter.

It is time for change. It is time, for your transformation.

P.S. This is an attempt to show a conversation between Life, in person, with this girl

Exes and Oh's

No, no.. I am not talking about lesbianism and the rules of lesbian dating here, nor am I really in the mood for the Ex and Oh game [I am pretty good at it by the way]... But when I say "Exes and Ohs" I mean it, literally! Whenever we think of our exes, there is always an oh! accompanying it :P

I have had I don't know how many relationships till date... I've lost count, honestly. Some lasted for years, some for months, some for weeks, some for days and some for hours too! But I have been in 3 serious relationships as of now. And when I look back now, I do not have the slightest feeling of regret because each one of them made me a better, stronger person and more acquainted with the realities of life.

Different people have different approaches towards their exes. To each his own. I have a mixed one! I used to think before that it was not difficult being friends even after you have been dating before. I was convinced about it too because I was friends with all my exes that time. That was 3 years ago. The notion has changed now, I think that once you break up, you better keep your exes out of sight, out of mind, and out of life! The reason for this change, I believe, is that I used to never be as involved in relationships before... Now, it is a little different.

One of the many things that I have learnt from my current relationship, since past 1 and a half year, is that you MUST NOT mention your ex [even if that is in a friendly faith] in front of your current interest at any cost. They react adversely, sooner or later. They tend to take it otherwise. One of the many things I wanna learn from my current relationship, especially being a girl, is how to get over my ex flames, for good! I really want to learn how to eradicate the inevitable force of comparison which takes over your current relationship at some point or the other during its tenure.

I learnt from my first serious Ex that women should not and must not be used as dummies to take out your frustrations in life. Oh, I would not want to have that phase of life back again! I learnt from my second serious Ex that respect ought to be an important ingredient in any relationship. Just because you're committed to a girl does not mean she cannot have a career and her own self respect. Oh, how I hope the notion has changed now... What makes everything worse is the peculiar quality of Exes to realize their mistakes only after the relationship has been called off! Oh, it sucks! I cannot think of an Ex situation without an Oh! :P Atleast not right now...

Nevertheless, I am very thankful to all my Exes, serious or not, for teaching me something or the other. Doesn't matter whether I am in touch with you or not, I will always wish the best in life for all of you! Oh, and I had a great time with all of you :P [There we go, another Ex with an Oh!] Thank you for everything! I know and you know it too that we are each others Exes coz things did not workout well. There was hurt, tears, mistrust and everything of that sort, but as Justin Timberlake says, What Goes Around Comes Around... I am a strong believer in that! Thank you the most for going away from my life, if it was not for you guys, I would have not met my current love interest ;)

Cheers!
Keep spreading love, it is beautiful!

Happy V day to all :)

My Pre Valentines Valentines Day!

Let me add my two cents to Rashi's post :)

Yesterday was a very unusual day for me. Everything about it was unplanned, well, more like it was planned but it all worked otherwise, for good! I had set my alarm clock for 8 am in the morning, which did not ring [Psst... I am so sure I turned it off and went back to sleep again], I had n unusual fight with Ash, and then I had to go for my classes all of a sudden, at urgent notice, and when I was on my way back home, there was a sudden plan of having my friend Nabila over for a one night stay at my place! Anyway, we returned home tired... Nabila followed, after a session of usual chit chatting we turned on the TV and they were talking about "The Pink Chaddi Campaign" on every news channel. I then googled it and found out the official blog for The Pink Chaddi Campaign [Know all about it here]. It was truly inspiring and within a few seconds I had my mind set on going to Lajpat Nagar and buying some pink cheap lingerie for Pramod Muthalik and his dumb SRS men. We got ready and headed out to Lajpat Nagar and went shopping for under garments. The shopkeeper asked us, "Kaunsa Size?" and we said, "Koi bhi de do, Pink color chahiye." It was so funny, the guy who sold us the undergarments and also the other fellow shopkeepers were totally confused! We bought 7 pairs of underwear, 3 of which were kid's underwear, and then we bought 2 pairs of yellow cheap underwear as well. We just could not resist! We returned home and clicked some pictures of them, wrote a note to the creator of this whole campaign, Nisha Susan, who works in Tehelka, and gift wrapped the whole package.

This morning, Nabila left early, and although I was late for my classes, I managed to take Ash along with me to the G.K. 2 market, to drop off the parcel. I spoke to Nisha Susan, she was so softspoken and she spoke very attentively which I did not expect, considering the amount of calls she must be answering everyday. I told her that I will reach her office in 5 minutes [I was stupid]. We had some heavy traffic and reached G.K.2 in half an hour instead of 5 minutes, [which caused Ash to be mad at me the whole evening and also we were late for our classes by 2 traffic filled long hours!] and then I did just the right thing to make it all the more worse by copying down the wrong address, M6 instead of M76! After a long exchange of angry looks from Ash and sorry expressions from my side, we managed to find the office of Tehelka and we dropped off the package for Nisha! The guy who received the package from me gave me a sheepish grin in return, like he knew what was inside all the packing. I smiled back and we resumed back to our long journey to the class. Luckily for me, my teacher reached an hour later than we reached, so finally me and Ash made up! What a day!

All in all, I am just happy... And more than that, I feel peaceful in all this chaos, just because I did something for a noble cause! In your faces SRS!!!

P.S. Happy Valentines Day SRS... NOT!

How Cluttered Are We?

This one is something we don't pay attention to in our daily lives in spite of knowing that it is all around us. Clutter. And the consequences are more dire than we can ever imagine. I just googled the word Clutter, and got these results on Wikipedia:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clutter may refer to any of the following:
* Excessive physical disorder:
o Clutter (organizing): A confusing or disorderly state or collection; or the creation thereof. Excessive, unnecessary or uncontrolled clutter can be a symptom of compulsive hoarding.
o A type of light pollution
o Clutter (radar): Unwanted echoes in electronic systems.
o Clutter (marketing): The extreme amount of advertisements or products the average consumer comes into contact with.
* Speech
o Cluttering
o Cluttered speech, when speech becomes broken or sounds nervous
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was looking for a single meaning, but this was just the perfect thing. It shows us how clutter is a problem in every aspect of life. By clutter, I mean mess. We might be the obsessive and compulsive kind of people outside, but are we really that clean on the inside? I was watching this episode about Clutter on the Oprah Winfrey show a few weeks ago. And I was startled to realize a few things. Since then I have wanted to write something on this topic. Well on the show, they telecasted the story of 2 American families which were suffering from this clutter phenomenon, and they had no idea how it was affecting their lives. There was a home organization expert Peter Walsh, who helped these families de-clutter themselves. And the changes were phenomenal! Let me elaborate on one of these families. They were a family of 5, a young couple and their 3 daughters who were 8,6 and 3 years respectively. Now this man of the family is a teacher in a school, and the woman, well she works at a cleaning store! I was so shocked to see their house, you enter inside and there is mess all over! The toys for kids, they have a million clothes, there is no room to walk, and even the parents bedroom is loaded with so much stuff that it affects their relationship in an adverse way more than a good way. That is when emotional clutter starts to creep in.

For a man who is a teacher, and a woman who is working at a cleaning store, it is surely very emotionally disturbing to see their house like this. They say that there is no time to clean so much of mess... They had not spent a private moment in the past 2 years they said. And while giving out this interview the woman started crying as she realzed that this clutter was affecting not only her house but the whole family's life! Anyway they spent a good 10 days de-cluttering the place and 75% of the stuff, which included a lot of new and unused stuff, was gotten rid of. It was not needed at all in the first place. Nowadays we have such mentality where we think that we need to buy things to keep us happy. And that is exactly what this family had been doing. During these 10 days, Peter Walsh tried to talk to the couple and the kids and tried to de-clutter their minds as well. He explained to them that it was important for the whole family to sit down and have meals together, and he had to explain this to the girls that drawing on walls was not exactly the best thing to do. He told the couple that they must give each other private time in spite of how busy their routine is. Once a week atleast. After their house was de-cluttered, and so were their minds, this family walked into a new, clean home and a fresh mindset. And I pray that they live happily ever after.

I know that we might not be cluttered to this extent as mentioned above. But somewhere or the other, we are cluttered. We might be clean enough to find things in our house or room, but we might also have a huge pile of stuff which we do have in our closets which we probably never use, or will not use it ever. We just like to keep it. That is the clutter I'm refering to.

I hope I am successful in conveying this message to all my readers, and more than that, to myself. We really need to de-clutter our lives. Get rid of that jeans which you love to wear for the past 10 years and it does not fit you anymore but you would like to keep it anyway. Get rid of all the old pictures of your ex lovers and hence the memories associated with them. If you have a closet full of clothes, then you should control your shopping, not just overload your closet with stuff you might probably never wear. If our surroundings are de-cluttered, they would keep our minds de-cluttered as well! Tell that girl you love her for once, instead of piling it up in your mind for years together. It will feel much better when you finish things on time. It would be much easier for us to find important papers if we kept your room and office organized. Last but not the least, I have been having my meals with my Dad on the dinner table these days, and really, it makes you grow closer to each other!

Inspiration

Pin drop silence, I stand amidst the center of the stage,
Miss perfect smile, covering rivers of nervousness within,
I trust my buoyancy, yet I shiver to the soul
But the podium supports me, standing ahead
With the paper papyrus and the ink filled feather.

Excited, exhilarated, delighted and elated
With the Compères words, I feel the flutter.

"What inspires you to win this crown?" He takes a pause
"You have two minutes, your time begins now"
I think of things that inspire every other,
The first thing I think that inspires, is mother,
I try to think out of the box, when I look above
And ahead of me lies deep, deep darkness,
So silent it feels with murmurs and whispers
I hear the murmurs loud in my ears,
"Go for it, India" I heard a cheer.

I then looked down, kept running my feather
And it rolled my mind on that papyrus paper.
I surpassed the infinite numbness,
The songs, the announcements rendered with my deafened ears,

The next thing I heard loud, was the same crowd cheer,
When the distance between the Universe and India seemed near.
I looked everywhere for inspiration, and it was right here!
