Precious MeMoRieS.....
She had been shopping with her Mom in Big bazaar. She was very small filled with innocence. It was pouring outside. Raindrops were erupting out of the sky like thousands of millions of bubbles that pierced the earth and burst upon impact with the human body.
We all stood there just inside the door of big bazaar waiting, some patiently, others irritated, because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I get lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing as carefree as a child come pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. Oh to be young again........
Suddenly we heard her sweet voice which broke my hypnotic trance. "Mom, let's run through the rain," "What?" Mom asked. "Let's run through the rain!" she repeated.
"No sweety We'll wait until it slows down a bit. We will get soaked if we do so"
"No, we won't, Mom, remember what you said this morning," the girl said as she tugged at her mom's arm.
"Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, "If God can get us through this,He can get us through anything!"
Her Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.
"Honey, you are absolutely right, let's run through the rain. If God lets us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing."
Then off they ran.
We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case, they got soaked. They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.
I want to believe that somewhere down the road in life, this Mom will find herself reflecting back on moments they spent together, they will always share that precious moment, when they ran through the rain believing that God would get them through
Yes, I ran. I got wet. I too needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they may even take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories. So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories every day!

I have a few things to say Jack ...
ReplyDeleteYou took me back to an old story I heard, told my Ramakrishna Paramhamsadev ... The story of the milk maid...
Then, you took me to the rains again ... rain dripped from every word in this story - a perfect one for this contest ...
Then, the sad part - cancer - wrapped in rain - I never felt sad at all ...
And lastly, dont say your story has 401 words ... in MS Word, where you have counted the words, the paragraph gaps are counted as one word ... so, you may skip those and re-count ...
Thanks for sharing!!
Guys, this is what I mean, when I say that some of the stories do not have enough rain in them ... Now you see? A RAINY Story ...
ReplyDeletewow wow...

ReplyDeletehey thanx mate,
i will recount it...I am glad that you liked it..Majority of post earlier associate rain with sorrow and pain, so i felt i should give a different perspective in this post where rain is associated with hope, happiness and life
@arjun
ReplyDeleteThank you bro,
That sentence has more deeper meaning, it shows inspite of trouble and problems in their life, a child teaches her mom how to build hope and live through tough times..
ya there are few more to come, will try to improve my post :)
I think thats the best part about children.. They listen to us say things and apply it to all situations- small or big! There are no exceptions and no expectations!
ReplyDeleteLovely read! Hope, peace and future are all parts of a rainy day :)
@Rashi
