A despondent glance I cast,
Across the vast waters ahead,
As I stand at the wheel atop this bridge,
The ship swaying with the undulations,
Of the waters beneath,
A placid silence, numbness,
Shrouds everything, the sea, the wind, Me,
The sails stagnant, unmoving,
The air heavy with the scent of fear,
Of the unknown,
As if heralding an ominous storm ahead,
Look around, I do, for someone whose not there,
I know, still, hoping against hope,
That someone will stand beside me,
As I sail into this foreboding mist,
The ship's devoid of life, except me,
Just like my soul, which has stopped playing host,
My heart which has long since shut down,
Beats only for the sake of it,
And then as if to prove the prophecy true,
To corroborate my fears,
The dark clouds roll in, surprisingly agile,
The foremost streak of lightning,
Tears the heaven to shreds,
Resounding across the wetness, the first clap of deafening thunder,
Echoing across the void, unbearable, yet so much there,
Sheets of rain lash my vessel,
As I strain at the wheel, to point her bow,
Into the huge swells now toying with me,
Every ascent to the crest, followed by,
A hollow unending fall into a trough,
As if into an abyss,
And then all over again,
Tired, wet, exhausted, I am,
Of this unending routine,
Every wave that strikes broadside,
Makes the ship shudder,
Like my spirit, breaking it, bit by bit,
Part by part, as if exacting utmost pain,
Every leak that springs from this pounding,
Drains away, my hope, my will to live,
As the ship yaws and pitches, an awkward dance,
At nature's whim; I stand witness, alone,
Whipped by the wind, drenched by the salt spray,
Hanging on, a grim figure blurred against,
This panaroma of destruction,
I let out an inhuman shriek,
Mocking the ones up in heaven to give it their all,
Making a vow to them, to myself,
To keep going through this, every single day,
Until I find that mystical shore, my destination,
That I am sure is just an illusion,
Or unless I die, broken down, into pieces,
along with my ship, perish, drowning,
Into these noxious depths,
Till then I go on,
Continue my lonely journey,
This solitary voyage called life!
Brand Mav !!! what more to say ???
