Nearing their final breath
Energy depleted and lost
Grasping for needed strength
Looking doleful and dull
Elders numbed yearning for
Care and abundant affection
They need from their
Erstwhile near and dear
Drowning now in tears

Ever reminiscing the past
Leaving a faint smile
Done are happy days
Emancipation from pain, neglect
Ruefully they crave for
Such unhappiness their lot
