Tagore's 148th Birth Anniversary

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)

Folks, today is Rabindranath Tagore's 148th birth anniversary (Rabindra Jayanti). By far one of the greatest icons of our country, Kabiguru Tagore has given us our wonderful National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana, and numerous other literary and poetic gems that will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come. Let us all pay our respects to this great man who will always be an inspiration to the one billion people that make our great nation, INDIA.

Sharing with you a beautiful song (Rabindra Sangeet), Puranoshei Diner Kotha:

And lastly, in Tagore's words:

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by Thee to ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.

Honestly, there are no words to describe the genius that was Tagore. No one can replace him and the great work that he has left behind. May his soul always rest in peace.

Genuis that he was, he is the only person to have penned down national anthems of 2 countries... How amazing is that?
