Just like the rain...

'Aaaah', she woke up with a start... Where was she? And what had woken her up? Was it the pitter patter of the rain falling on the roof, making music; or was it the pain she felt? But just then a sharp jab was followed by an involuntary shriek which got the nurses rushing in into her room... and seemed to take away all her senses from her...

She was rushed into the labour room and her last thought was for the unborn baby... her baby, Steve's baby... hers and Steve's...

She woke up in the morning and the first thing her eyes rested upon was what was the most beautiful face on the earth. Her new-born daughter, looking angelic even as she slept... she looked just like him.

The second thing she noticed was dark clouds thorugh the open window, right at the onset of winter!!! A smile spread across her face as she thought of the rainy dayz...

But then it brought back other memories, painful ones this time.... Moments she'd once cherished and which now filled her eyes with tears. Times when she waited to be with Steve, waited for the long rides with him on his flying motorbike, the hot coffee that Steve made for her every morning to wake her up, the hot pakoras he brought back for her...

The looks that had been passed, the meetings that had been planned...

The kisses they'd shared, the promises they'd made...

The blessings that were showered upon them, the love that was there...

'Oh Steve', she thought for the thousandth time. He loved the rain, he loved the weather, he would drag her into the rain and dance with her. 'Shower-dance, he called it', she told herself with a smile...

But it was all over now... just like the rain that just pours and goes...

But then her daughter woke up and started wailing. The dark clouds in the sky parted...... and it was bright, sunny once again...
